Someone asked Thales what was the most difficult thing and the answer was: “Know yourself.” The next question: What is the easiest thing? The answer is: “Give suggestions to others.”

  1. “Know thyself” is one of those sayings that definitely opens up several cans of worms. Thales is attributed, but so are other philosophers and around that time they would all have been aware of it, hence why perhaps giving the suggestion was easier than providing the answer?

    1. It is always easy for people to see the shortcomings of others, but they cannot see their own shortcomings. Because you can’t see your shortcomings, your suggestion may be wrong! Lead others to the abyss.
